Colossians 1:12

Read all of Colossians, the entire short book, everyday before you dissect the daily verse or passage. Today’s passage is Colossians 1:12

Colossians 1:12 ESV

giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

PAST: answer what this verse meant to the original recipients in the PAST.
Wow, these are powerful words! The Colossians must have been excited to read them. They are QUALIFIED by God and share in the INHERITANCE of other Christians! This meant that they were made right with God and worthy. To speak of an inheritance that meant they were now family or blood relatives to God.

EVERYONE: re-write the verse in your own words to reflect the universal truth that applies to EVERYONE.
God has provided a way to reconcile His people to Him so they might one day join Him in Heaven.

PRESENT: what does this verse mean to you and how should you apply it today in the PRESENT.
Had I received this letter from Paul, this would be the part I would have exclaimed “AMEN!” What a blessing to really know this. I am qualified by God to be one of His children. Woohoo!
