Colossians 1:11
Read all of Colossians, the entire short book, everyday before you dissect the daily verse or passage. Today’s passage is Colossians 1:11
Colossians 1:11 ESV
being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;
PAST: answer what this verse meant to the original recipients in the PAST.
Paul is continuing his prayer for the Colossians. They were dealing with something in their culture that was confusing and frustrating to them. These words would have been a welcome encouragement and support to them
EVERYONE: re-write the verse in your own words to reflect the universal truth that applies to EVERYONE.
God’s power gives us glorious might that brings with it joyful endurance and patience.
PRESENT: what does this verse mean to you and how should you apply it today in the PRESENT.
Again very powerful reminders that I can endure with joyful patience because of the Power that backs me. I do not have to, nor should I do things on my own strength. It is also a reminder to spread these truths as Paul is doing to other Christians who are within my scope of influence. God IS glorious and IS mighty. He is the source of patience and joy. He is the source of allowing me to endure. Thank you God!
