Holding God Hostage

I was brought up in the church, taught to love God, love Jesus, obey his commands, and to be involved in church. I knew the bible (or thought I did) inside and out however I was holding God hostage with my own belief system. I was picking and choosing what worked best for me at any given moment rather than trusting that his Word, ALL of his Word, was 100% right regardless of what I thought. Even so, I was forgiven. I was His. Once saved, always saved, right? Or was I? Read some of the posts on this site to get proof of your salvation as well as some water for your soul.

Thursday Theology at its Best ~ Francis Chan, Follow Me Sermon at Saddleback

Francis Chan was one of the many great guest speakers to preach at Saddleback Church after the tragic death of Senior Pastor Rick Warren’s son. You may view the video of that sermon here and some quick notes are below. This is a great one, so enjoy!

Francis Chan
Guest Speaker: Saddleback Church
Date: April 27 & 28, 2013
Title: Follow Me
Verses: Philippians 4:4-9

Philippians 4:4-9
(4) Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. (5) Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; (6) do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

(8) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (9) What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
