Goals

Every year at this time we set out to change things for next year. What goals have you set in place? How long do you think you can keep them going?

In order to make a true shift in your ability to make something actually happen, you must commit by changing or updating your identity. The number one goal we should all have this year is to get a few steps closer to Jesus. Our whole world becomes clearer and calmer when we abide in Jesus and His Word abides in us!

Who are you? What is your identity? If your identity is found in Jesus, then let the following five commitments be our battle cry this year:

  1. I am committed to having a “learner’s spirit” (a desire to learn Jesus).
  2. I am committed to examine my life honestly in light of the Bible only and not the world.
  3. I am committed to comparing myself to the Bible rather than to others.
  4. I am committed to obeying God, in all circumstances.
  5. I am committed to Biblically prepare myself for trials and tribulation this year and learn through them as I lean on the Word of God.

With these five commitments in mind, our one, over-arching commitment should be to read the Bible often and thoroughly. Be blessed through God’s love letter to you!

Daily Bible Reading Thought of the Day on Grace ~ Ephesians 2:8-9

My 5 year old is having a crisis of faith. He asked me yesterday if Jesus and Satan were REALLY real. He asked me how he can know for sure if he is going to Heaven. I asked him what he thought. He told me that he needs to be really really really good. Wow! What a teaching moment and right in the middle of our great daily Bible reading! I read him Chapter 2 a day early and will be re-reading it again today. Father God, please give me wisdom and discernment with my 5 year old Jacob. Speak through me and give Jacob understanding. Open his eyes to see and his ears to hear.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own
doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may
boast. ~ Ephesians 2:8-9

Daily Bible Reading Thought of the Day on Isaiah 1: 5-6

Isaiah 1: 5-6

5…Why will you continue to rebel?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head,
there is no soundness in it…

It is so sad to think about the Israeli people and how they were so stiff-necked. It makes no sense at all yet as I look around at the people I pass during the day, my heart breaks as I know the majority of them are lost. There is so much proof, so much evidence that if they only had eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand they would know. Father, please open the eyes, ears, and heart of my loved ones who do not yet know you. I pray for salvation over my entire household. Bring your Holy Spirit down hard on them so that they may be convicted of their sin, their lack of righteousness, and their impending judgment from you, a Holy and Perfect God. Help me walk to day in you so that I may be a perfect light reflecting only Your glory. I give you my every moment that you may do as you please.
